Now Playing: Healthcare costs rising fast for veterans and families article Now Play: How do you get VA benefits in the wake of the VA scandal?
article Then there are the bills for the doctors who treat veterans in the system.
The average cost for a VA doctor’s bill is $4,895 per month, according to the VA website.
The VA pays the bills directly to providers and the federal government, not to private insurance companies.
Those who receive VA care typically get paid about $20,000 per year, according the VA.
But there are some costs that the VA doesn’t cover.
The federal government pays the full amount of the doctor’s salary if they do not treat veterans at the VA, according a VA press release.
That includes benefits, but not hospital or outpatient services.
And, even if a doctor did receive VA medical insurance, the cost of those benefits is still covered by the federal Government Employees Health Benefits Program.
“If they are going to treat veterans, they’re going to have to get the government to cover the cost,” said Dr. Jennifer Williams, a clinical associate professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and an expert on the VA system.
Williams, who was not involved in the study, said that the most common issue she sees for veterans is chronic medical conditions that require long-term care, such as Parkinson’s disease and cancer.
The cost of treatment can add up to tens of thousands of dollars, she said.
“The most common [cost] I see is about $10,000 for a couple of appointments,” Williams said.
But for people who qualify for VA benefits, the amount of coverage they receive is determined by their state’s health care laws.
For example, in some states, you can get coverage for up to $20 a month.
Williams said that for the most part, people who get benefits are not eligible for Medicare.
She said that people who can’t afford the cost for VA care are often forced to pay out-of-pocket costs.
“We do not believe that the federal health care programs should cover all expenses,” Williams wrote in an email.
“VA is an exception, because it covers more than most other types of health care.
We believe that a VA program that covers more health care needs and services than the government provides is the right way to go.”
