4 FourFour2 has obtained a copy of the bill from the state, which shows the medical insurance companies are entitled to receive up to $300 million from the MediPay program, which is a special tax credit program for Medicare beneficiaries.
The bill also shows the insurers can deduct $1.2 billion in payments to MediHealth, an insurance company run by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
The state also says the companies must file a state tax return.
The health insurance companies and the state were not immediately available for comment.
The Medicare program was created by Congress to make health insurance more affordable and more available to lower-income people.
